We've come this far by faith ...
In October 1990, more than 30 people met at a local restaurant with the vision of starting a new church. After a couple of meetings at the restaurant, the group began holding church services on Sundays and Wednesday nights at the Masonic Lodge in Pontotoc with Bro. Donald Cowsert as the first pastor.
Meanwhile the congregation began building a sanctuary on Hwy. 342 in the Black Zion community.
On the first Sunday in December 1991, the first services were held in the present sanctuary. Bro. Charles Wright was elected pastor in 1993, and held that office until January 2002.
Church growth necessitated the expansion of the original sanctuary in 1994, and the addition of the fellowship hall in 1995 and more addition onto the back of the church in 2006. In January 2002, Bro. Mark Riddle became pastor and held the office until 2010. After serving as interim pastor for about six weeks, Bro. Charles Wright was re-elected pastor November 15, 2010.
During the past two years, the church has grown and prospered as new people have come to join our family, new souls have been added and several new converts have been baptized and received the Holy Ghost.
The Lord has blessed us with several new Sunday School teachers and youth leaders while we have been blessed with teachers and leaders who have been faithful for many years as well. With the growth have come improvements in the church property such as monitors, new seating, new lighting and new carpet in the sanctuary, a remodel of the nursery and a replenish of new utensils and other supplies in the church kitchen.
